Aliyu Suleiman former Oceanic Bank Staff sentenced to 195 years imprisonment for fraud
A previous staff of Oceanic Bank Aliyu Suleiman on Wednesday was sentenced to 195 years detainment for misrepresentation by Justice Dije Abdu Aboki of the Kano State High Court.
The convict was summoned by the EFCC on the September 30, 2014, for purportedly taking over N21m from Albasu Microfinance Bank. Upon his arraignment, the convict argued not liable to all the count charge conveyed as a detriment to him by the EFCC.
Conveying her judgment Justice Aboki sentenced the convict to serve two years on each of number one to forty four and fine of N300,000 on each. Where the convict defaults the fine, he is to serve extra six months detainment on every tally.
From number 45 to 74, the convict was sentenced to fine of N500,000 or twelve months detainment on every tally while on tally 75 to 105, he is to pay fine of N200,000 or twelve months detainment on every check except for tally 97 which had all the earmarks of being duplication.
The sentences were to run simultaneously. The convict was likewise requested to restore the whole of N14.8m to the Albasu Community or burn through five more years in jail.
The convict was a previous staff of Oceanic Bank and was depended by the Albasu Community to assume responsibility of their Microfinance Bank. While in control, the convict disregarded that trust and directed over N21m by producing marks of alternate signatories to the assets.
