De Bruyne is content with City's showing

For Manchester City's last match against Borussia Monchengladbach, having Kevin de Bruyne on the field was something that Pep Guardiola wanted at all cost due to his vast experience against the German side from his days with Wolfsburg. The Belgian midfielder was a major influence on his team's dynamic throughout the game, but it wasn't enough for them to get a victory they desired. However, they did get to qualify above them in the Group stage as second place.
After the match, De Bruyne spoke to the press and said: "After we got the red card we just killed the game and that was the most important thing. It's not nice to see but in the end we are through. They are very compact and even before they scored I think they just wanted to defend. It was a good goal [by Silva] but a tough first half. We were better in the second half."
German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan who also knew how to play against Gladbach, told BT Sport that: "This is the football we want to play. We always try to react and if we recognize something is not going well we try to change and do our best. It was sometimes necessary today to control the game. The result was the most important thing."
