Children Of Nigerian Immigrant Survived Days With Their Mom's Corpse In Spain. Photo
Police have rescued three young children after they spent several days next to their mother's dead body in their family home. The children - aged 5, 10 and 11 - had barely any food or water and finally went looking for help in the street, telling passers-by their mum was in bed and "wouldn't open her eyes".
Passers-by were shocked when the children approached them and said they didn't know what was wrong with their mother, 40, who was in their flat.
The children, two boys and a girl, were described as being barely dressed and hungry when they were found.
The youngest child fainted as he was being assisted by neighbours who realised the children were in trouble and gave them juice and water and something to eat.
Police found their mum’s body after breaking into their home in Palma on the Spanish island of Majorca on Tuesday.
The children are believed to have spent more than 24 hours with their mum’s corpse. They are understood to have told the gardener they had not eaten for three days.
A post-mortem is expected to confirm the unnamed woman, a Nigerian immigrant, died of natural causes.
