China expels 2 cops after environmentalist dies in their custodyIn a case that has caused public outcry about China’s law enforcement methods, two police officers have been expelled from their duty posts after an environmentalist died in their custody last May.
According to China Daily, citing the Beijing police reports, two of the police officers have now been punished.

One officer has been sacked and expelled from the Communist Party, while the other has been removed from his post and given an administrative warning, the newspaper said.
The 29-year-old environmentalist, Lei Yang, was arrested in a massage parlour as part of a police operation against prostitution and died hours later after choking on his own vomit.
