Federal Government to pay protesting Super Falcons on friday
The report reaching us now following Wednesday morning protest by members of the female football national team (Super falcons) who won the just concluded AWCON Championship in Cameroun at the National Assembly Headquarters over non-payment of their allowances by the NFF, the presidency has promised to clear all and foot all their allowances by Friday.
In what look like a sharp opposite to how the Lionesses of Cameroon were treated, the Falcons who are reportedly entitled to $25,000 each are yet to get their allowance and had vowed not to vacate the hotel they are being lodged until they are paid and this has led to the team refusing to leave the hotel where they are lodged. Super Falcons of Nigeria eyes to spot group finish in AWCON.
The players on hearing that the president will visit the National Assembly to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to lawmakers in the house, took their protest to the next level by marching there with placards reading , “We are your children, pity us”; “Let us respect women”; “female football deserves respect.”
In a calculated bid to get his attention and possibly put an end to their plight. The girls, however, returned to their hotel after the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, while addressing them promised to pay up what they are owed in two days.
We earnestly hope they fulfill their promises to the ladies so that such occurrence wouldn’t raise its neck again because they really gave their best for the country and the game of football.
