The Lagos state government subsidised rice will arrive the market on December 13 across all local government area of the state.
Lagosians would be able to buy rice for as low at N13,000 per 50 kg this December period courtesy the Lagos state government.
According to Vanguard, the government will provide the cheap rice called Lake Rice to people across the state as from December 15.
Okanlawan who serves as an adviser to the Lagos state governor has explained on Thursday, December 8, that the Lake Rice as it is called will arrive the market in communities across the state.
The governor’s aide explained the rice was a joint product from Lagos and Kebbi states.
He said the state government had put in place checks to prevent persons from diverting the government rice.
Okanlawan said a task force by the government had been set up to ensure that the rice is easy to access by residents of the state.
He said the Lagos state move to make cheap rice available to the people was in line with the federal government’s commitment to boost the agricultural sector of the economy.
Meanwhile, Willie Obiano has promised to give government workers in Anambra free rice at during the holiday period.
The Punch reports that the governor of the state has also told workers that his administration will fulfill all the promises it has made.
He added that he will pay them their 2016 annual leave allowance before the celebration on December 25.
