Man jailed for raping minor

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Thursday sentenced a 46 -year-old man, Salisu Abdullahi, to 14 years in prison for raping an eight-year old girl.

The court presided over by Justice J. K. Omotosho, said the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict committed the offence.

The National Agency For the Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) arraigned the man on a one count charge, saying he acted in a manner that contravened the provision of section 16 of NAPTIP Enforcement and Administration Act.

The judge dismissed the evidence given by Abdullahi who made efforts to quash the charge.
