Jose Mourinho felt Zlatan Ibrahimovic was unfairly robbed of ending 2016 as the most prolific goalscorer in Europe.
The Manchester United striker appeared to have notched his 51st goal of 2016 during the Premier League meeting with Middlesbrough only to see it controversially ruled out for a high foot.

The former PSG striker failed to get on the scoresheet and therefore ended the year with 50 goals in all competitions. It meant he was one short of Lionel Messi, who scored 51 and ended 2016 as the highest scorer across Europe’s top five leagues.

Mourinho strongly disagreed with the decision
Talking about the controversial call by referee Lee Mason, Mourinho made his feelings clear.
‘Lee Mason will be very disappointed for sure because now he knows. It stopped an amazing player from being top scorer in 2016.’
At least Ibrahimovic was able to celebrate a Manchester United victory with goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba seeing the Red Devils come back to win 2-1 from a goal down
