Olivier Giroud for Arsenal or Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Manchester United – which scorpion kick goal was better?

Poll: Giroud or Mkhitaryan - whose scorpion kick goal was better?
Two Premier League classics in the space of a week

When Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored his audacious scorpion kick goal for Manchester United against Sunderland earlier this week, few were expecting to see anything quite like it for a long time.

The Armenian showed remarkable instincts in the box to adjust his body and flick the ball in for United’s third goal – it was so good that no one even cared that he was clearly offside.
That was a Boxing Day special, but fast forward just a few days later to New Year’s Day and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud has possibly gone and bettered that wondergoal in today’s game against Crystal Palace.

Mkhitaryans goal was a tad offside

The Frenchman, in typical Giroud fashion, started the game by missing an early sitter from about two yards out, before launching an unstoppable effort past Wayne Hennessey in the Palace goal.
Giroud started the move in his own half with a delightful flick, before jetting off to keep up with play, though he arguably got a little ahead of himself with his run into the box.
Alexis Sanchez played his cross in slightly behind him, but that was no problem for the 30-year-old as he showed incredible speed of thought and expert technique to flick the ball over his head, over the ‘keeper, and most satisfyingly of all, off the underside of the crossbar.
